If your HP DeskJet 2540 Printer won’t print then try to check for page smears and then you can resolve the page smears by using HP DeskJet 2540 Troubleshooting techniques. Inspect the printer for paper jams. Open input and output trays of the printer. Look for jammed papers using a flashlight and remove them if present. Next, look for the jammed paper bits that are stuck in the carriage after opening the cartridge access door. Now, inspect the ink cartridge levels periodically. Replace the low or empty cartridge if it is low. If your printer won’t scan then open the scanner lid of the DeskJet 2540 printer and if the paper is loaded with its printed side facing up, remove it and place it down. Look for scratches on the scanner glass and replace it if required. Now, open the HP printer assistant on your PC and start scanning. Check whether the printer is able to scan. Finally, power cycle the printer and try to scan. Reset the printing environment if the above does not work for you.
